Engine Indicator Type 50

Engine Indicator

An engine indicator measures dynamic pressures within large combustion engines. It draws a pressure-angle diagram corresponding to the pressure cycle within each cylinder of the engine. This indicator diagram helps to analyze the performance of each cylinder and the overall performance of the engine.

The engine indicator Type 50 is especially designed to analyze the performance of slow-running marine diesel engines, locomotive engines, and engines used in stationary power plants. It features a union nut, a pressure housing, an internal piston assembly, a stylus arm and a recording drum. The engine indicator is connected to the engine´s indicator valve using the union nut.

The engine indicator Type 30 has gone out of production. It is replaced by the Digital Pressure Indicator DPI. The DPI is an electronic engine indicator that may also be used as an alternative to the Type 50.
