Undersaturated volatile oil reservoirs are single-phase oil systems located in reservoirs with an initial temperature relatively close to the critical point. The definition of a "volatile liquid" is a liquid that readily evaporates or vaporizes. Sampling undersaturated volatile oils with the standard One Phase™ Sampler sometimes is difficult as volatile oils develop larger gas phase volumes with comparable pressure losses when entering the two-phase region of the phase envelope. Leutert offers a High Shrinkage Sampler HSS to address this problem and to enhance recovery performance for highly compressible sample liquids.
